How to Find Your Business’s Target Audience

How to Find Your Business’s Target Audience

When marketing & advertising your business, one of the most important things to know is your target audience. By focusing on the people who need or are interested in your product or service, you will maximize the effectiveness of your advertisements, and get a higher ROI from your marketing budget. Now let’s go over what a target audience is and how to find yours.

What is a Target Audience?

A target audience is the group of consumers who are going to be most receptive to your products, services, and promotions. Who you place in this group is based on factors such as age, location, income, etc. For example, if you own a landscaping business you would likely target people who own homes within a reasonable distance from your location.

Why is it Important?

Having a target audience allows you to customize your marketing strategy to reach full potential. You will be able to tailor your writing style, content, and overall look to appeal to your audience and get the best response. As a business, you are more likely to gain a customer by meeting the needs of one specific group than by only meeting some needs of a lot of groups.

Finding Your Target Audience

Problems, Needs, and Solutions.

The first step in finding your target audience is to imagine yourself as one of your customers. What problems and needs do they have that your business would be the solution for. Try to be specific when doing this. Do they need fast service? Are there activities that they do that your business can make easier for them?

Current Customers

When looking at your list of current customers, think about the things they have in common. How old are they? What areas do they live in? How often are they buying from you? Current customers provide great insight into what types of people you should target.

Observe Your Competition

Another way to find your target audience is to take a look at your competition. To get a feel for who they are targeting take a look at their website and social media pages. Does that demographic seem like they could benefit from your business as well? If it does, it could be a good place to start expanding on.

Now What?

After you have found out who your audience is, and you know the best ways to reach them and market to them, you are able to start designing a marketing campaign. Whether it be a social media campaign, and email campaign, or TV advertising, Rip Roarin Productions is able to help.
